Born on 5th July 1971 in Oldham, Lancashire.
She is an only child.
Nicola was educated at North Chadderton Comprehensive School, Oldham.
She has two children, Esme born in 2008, and Iris, born in 2010.

Television appearances include: as Amanda in several episodes of Children's Ward (1990); The Final Frame (1990); Medics (1990).
Nicola's first high profile role was as Margaret Clemence in Brookside (1990 to 1993). Her character was notable of having the first lesbian kiss to be broadcast pre-watershed on British television.
