Mel was one of the girls who mugged w:c:emmerdale:Seth Armstrong in 2000. The other one was her friend Julie. Mel was played by w:c:emmerdale:Rebecca White (Actress).

Seth Armstrong won some money on a bet. He bought a replacement figurine for Betty Eagleton but was being watched by 2 teenage girls. As he was walking home through a riverside park in Hotten, he was approached by the 2 girls who called him "Grandad". They taunted him, attacked him, stole his wallet, smashed up the figure he bought for Betty and ran off.
Later on, Seth recognised the girls and even made a citizens arrest by grabbing her hand and lot letting her go, detaining her. Ollie Reynolds knew the girls and they were arrested by Ollie's mother Angie Reynolds.
