Lindley Farm, the farm used as "Emmerdale Farm" from 1972 to 1993.

Lindley Farm and its land was used for exterior location for the original Emmerdale Farm from 1972 to 1993. The Farm was the main focal point in the series for many years. When the real life farm changed ownership in 1992, the new owners did not allow filming to continue so in the show, w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Hawthorn Cottage took over as the 2nd Emmerdale Farm.

Usage in Emmerdale (1972-1993)[]

Lindley Farm was chosen as the farmhouse which was to dub as Emmerdale Farm in the new TV show Emmerdale Farm. This trend continued for many years. In 1992, w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Arthur Peel sold up and the new owners did not want filming to continue there, so the original iconic farmhouse had to be written out of the show, a storyline was where the farmhouse suffered from subsidence, doors unable to open, and a tractor falling into a sinkhole.
