Emmie ep 43

Jack lays in shock at the millhouse after his flogging. Janie shows Frank her bridal gown ; they worry about the newspapers intruding on their wedding. Reverend Ruskin asks Frank if he knows who told the newspapers. Henry shows Annie the plans for the pig farm and he has asked the bank to borrow 10 thousand pounds. Henry asks Annie if she had expected Jack to react like he did about the pig idea. She tells him that he left home for 8 years rather than keep hens for his dad. She makes Henry a meal saying "the future of the farm is in your hands, it's up to me to see you don't lose strength to use them". Alison Gibbons comes to the millhouse to see Jack and she is shocked to see his scars & tells him he needs a doctor. She washes his wounds & he tells her that he told the newspapers about Verney & that he was wrong. Alison tells him that the villagers think that he was beaten for seducing Verney's wife. Amos calls at the vicarage & tells the vicar about Verney & Sugden's fight. Amos makes up a tale about the cause of the fight and the vicar corrects him & tells him not to gossip. Amos also tells the vicar that Alison went to see Jack Sugden late at night.

Alison tends to Jack's wounds. Laura visits Jack at the millhouse. She says that George told her to go & take Jack to a doctor. Jack says "there is something very English about all this". Laura has gone cold on Jack. Annie is flustered when she hears about Jack. She asks Joe to take her to the old mill and she is not pleased to find Laura Verney there. Jack begins to have convulsions. Amos is pleased that the rolls have sold. Joe is amazed to hear
that Alison called on Jack "he cops 'em don't he...how does he do it?" Amos points out a young lady in the Woolpack & tells Joe that she is asking the way to the old mill.
